The Vintage Plaza - Community and Beyond
|
With the 2004 ground-breaking of a new McDonald's at The Vintage Plaza, the commercial development is now in full-swing with a marketing campaign to attract additional restaurants, retail shops, services and offices to Excelsior Springs. Arby's restaurant opened in August 2005, followed by Applebee's Neighborhood Bar and Grill in November 2005. A retail center is under construction with an opening planned in May 2006.

As families move into the newly constructed homes in the adjacent Vintage residential community, pictured above, the development company of C.H.A.P. Land Company L.L.C. will oversee infrastructure improvements in the commercial area. Improvements include a new signal light recently installed at the entrance on Highway 69, a four-lane highway, and is the first traffic light coming into Excelsior Springs from Kansas City.
The development encompasses 20+ acres of land along a major transportation route, convenient to, yet apart from, Kansas City metropolitan development. Lot sizes range from less than one acre to about eight acres, but may well be combined to suit needs. The Vintage Plaza is located in Clay County on Highway 69 across from a Wal-Mart shopping center and serves an area of about 38,000 people.
The exclusive, single family housing development is pedestrian-friendly with attractive landscaping, inground swimming pool and walking trail. The overall appeal of Excelsior Springs as a community with unique historic qualities, excellence in health care and education, and ready labor market create an enviable market for commercial development.
The Vintage Plaza commercial development and homes is the result of a partnership between Excelsior Springs businessmen Chuck Anderson, Sonny Parker, Bob Craven, and Nick Houk.
It is essentially a new concept of development in Excelsior Springs, and the developers will attract retail businesses and services desirable to the community and provide employment opportunities for residents.
